Bad Breath: A Sign of Something More Serious?

Previously, we wrote about bad breath and the importance of flossing, as well as some of the causes of this issue. If your bad breath does not seem to go away, it may be a sign of a more serious issue. There are a number oral health and non-oral health-related issues that foul breath may be a sign of.

Oral health issues include:
Strep throat or other throat issues
Cavities
Gum disease
Infected root canal

Non-oral health issues include:
Diabetes
HIV
Liver disease
Lung infection
Lung disease
GERD

Most of the time, the reason for bad breath is due to a poor dental hygiene routine. You need to make sure you are brushing your teeth, gums, tongue, and top of your mouth along with flossing two times per day.
