Electric and Manual Toothbrushes Compared

In the last few years, we have seen a rise in the appeal of powered toothbrushes. But are these brushes, in fact, better at cleaning than a regular toothbrush?

Dentists and scientists concur that a traditional brush can provide the same level of cleanliness as an electric toothbrush. The real divider between the two is the level of ease. Diligence is crucial when it comes to using a traditional toothbrush. Brushing your teeth for two minutes, two times a day is key in order to keep your smile healthy. Two minutes straight of manually brushing can sometimes seem like a hassle, though.

Hence electric toothbrushes. Their ability to do mostly everything for their owner is one of the reasons why powered toothbrushes have grown in popularity. They have different brush heads and modes (like whitening, deep cleaning, and sensitivity), making a solid teeth cleaning simple. Some models even come with the ability to time how long the individual is taking brushing one location and signals them to continue on to the next quadrant by way of vibrations. Also, powered brushes are great for people who have impairments or problems with dexterity.

Ultimately, picking between a traditional or an electric toothbrush depends on the individual. There is no solid evidence that one style of brush is better than the other; it just boils down to the way of life and preferences of the person. On the one hand, manual toothbrushes are affordable, travel-friendly, and do not need batteries or a charge. On the other hand, they require a little more work.

So, which do you use: powered or traditional?
