When Is It Necessary to Go to the Dentist?

Although visiting the dentist every six months is the general rule, there are other times between those six months where a trip to the dentist is necessary.

Problems with Gums
If you experience any of the following with your gums it is important to see the dentist:

  • Bright red
  • Inflamed
  • Bleed after brushing or flossing

Tooth Pain
A painful tooth can be a sign of other issues. Be sure to speak with your dentist about any pain you’re experiencing.

Sensitive Teeth
Like a painful tooth, having a sensitive tooth can also be a sign of other dental health problems that should be addressed with your dentist.

Your Mouth Feels Dry
Dry mouth may not seem like a big deal, but a lack of saliva in our mouth can increase our chances of cavities.

Other Problems
If there is something that doesn’t feel right, maybe a bump in your mouth that won’t go away or you notice you’re grinding teeth at night, be sure to speak to your dentist. It is better to be extra sure that any problems are taken care of rather than ignoring them.

Feel free to schedule an appointment with Dr. Kinn in Fostoria, OH if you’re due for a cleaning or have any concerns about your dental health.
